For the first time in two years, Butler Dek Hockey will see a change in management. Erin and

Bill Schollaret will take over as the managers of the Dek hockey rink, which has been managed for the last two years by Rick Double.

Bill put in a bid two years ago, when Rick took over the rink in 2008. The township decided to go with Rick that time around. In the deal, Rick would pay 10% gross revenue and would be able to run the rink for two years.

The contract states after the two years, the Township could have kept the status quo the same or change it.  After a meeting in Butler Township, the committee decided to go back to the bidding.

In the meeting there were four total people bidding on the right to run the dek. Bill and Erin ended winning the lease and will pay 12.5% of their gross lease for two years.

Bill and Erin are looking to run the Dek differently than its previous occupant.  The Schollaret's are looking for sponsors in order to keep the cost down and offer a better product. The sponsors will help pay for the trophies and the t-shirts that are given to the youth leagues every session

Coach and father to reporter Jordan Hammer,  Doug Hammer , who has been coaching dek hockey for 15 years and also played there until he was forty years old said, " I think Rick Double and his family did a good job of running the Dek the past few years, maybe if we provide a fun place for our youth to participate in sports, there won't be as much of a need to build jails."

The Schollaret's are focused on running the leagues a lot smoother. Adult dek hockey player and current BC3 student Jordan Meals said "I am hoping the new management will be fresh and new, I am excited for the change."

The Schollaret's really wanted to develop a strong presence online.  They have launched a website to create a convenient location for parents and players.  Since the launch in Jan., the site has had a high traffic of people visiting the site.

Adult dek hockey player and current BC3 student Mark Wilson said, "I am hoping that it is going to be run a lot smoother. Bill and Erin are really nice people."
