Coach Mattis joined the Pioneers season at BC3 against CCBC on January 9, he hopes for strong recruiting to bring a successful season next year.  "Although coming to a new place to coach mid season was a challenge I always do support players to be as positive as possible," Coach Mattis said.

Coach Mattis moved to the area in 2007 from Cherry Tree, PA, about one and a half hours away from Butler.

He attended Purchase Line High School in Commodore, PA and continued at Waynesburg College where he also played basketball. After a year, he transferred to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and where he graduated.
