Just Say No: To the H1N1 Vaccine

While I hope most of us are not going around worrying about our heath, it is hard not to miss all of the hype and hoopla saturating the media over the H1N1 outbreak. Like many, you may be thinking about getting the H1N1 vaccine. If so, then I say, think again.

This media generated pandemic and its ensuing vaccine is a nothing more than a mass marketing campaign for destructive profit.

About 40% of the population has already decided in favor of the H1N1 vaccine. A recent casual survey suggests that the BC3 community mimics the national statistics. This leaves the majority of the population undecided.

So if only a minority is in favor, why am I urging you to stand against the vaccine? Because the majority is undecided, and being undecided makes you vulnerable. Not vulnerable to virus itself, but vulnerable to the media, the advertising, propaganda, well meaning friends and sometimes even misguided members of the medical community.

First of all, what is the H1N1, also called the swine flu?

The New York Times, December 2 edition describes it as follows. "H1N1 2009 is an entirely new combination of four genetic elements: a bird flu, some human flu genes and two types of swine flu." If you are a bit confused by all of those genes, you are not alone. In the April issue of Nature, a virologist was quoted as saying, "Where the hell it got all these genes from we don't know."

"If flu simultaneously pops up all over the world and has the exact same properties and response and doesn't mutate quickly, then 9 times out of 10 it is staged," said radio talk show host Alex Jones.

While these findings certainly cast a suspicious light on the issue, fortunately, the illness itself isn't all that bad.

This is how The World Health Organization (WHO) describes the swine flu as "a viral infection that affects mainly the nose, throat, bronchi and, occasionally, lungs. Infection usually lasts for about a week, and is characterized by sudden onset of high fever, aching muscles, headache and severe malaise, non-productive cough, sore throat and rhinitis. The WHO goes on to state, "Most infected people recover within one to two weeks without requiring medical treatment."

If most people recover without requiring medical treatment, why does it keep making headlines?

Yes, there have been some deaths allegedly related to this virus, and when it comes to the loss of a life, every one is significant.

The current death toll from the H1N1 virus is purported to be about 4,000. But let's put that into perspective. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that 'normal flu' kills hundreds of thousands of people a year worldwide.

I question the accuracy of both of those numbers. Considering that in November, the CDC unveiled a new method for counting deaths from the H1N1 virus.

How does that work exactly, this new method for counting?

Even if the numbers quoted are exact, they still are not that significant. In America alone, some 435,000 deaths are related to tobacco use. On an annual basis, more people die from aspirin than from the H1N1 virus, about 7,600, to be exact. Should we consider smoking or aspirin usage to be a pandemic?

The statistical fact is that swine flu isn't very dangerous to the population. But the pharmaceutical industry is broadcasting swine flu deaths in order to scare more people into getting the vaccine.

The vaccine is known to contain ingredients that have killed or caused serious paralysis and neurological disorders. Guillain-Barré Syndrome and Dystonia, two crippling diseases with no known cures are related to the swine flu virus.

Investigative reporter, Jane Burgermeister has gone as far as to file criminal charges against the WHO and Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General.

Additionally, the vaccine has not been thoroughly tested. Supposedly, in response to the pandemic, Glaxso-Smith Kline wants to provide the vaccine to governments as quickly as possible. To this end, they have stated that "clinical trials will be limited." I guess the first ones to take the vaccine get to be the lab rats. Does it give you any comfort to know that, "Additional studies will therefore be required and conducted after the vaccine is made available."

The media will have you believe that the vaccine is being rushed to market to meet the demands of this deadly outbreak. The reality however, is the manufacturers have saved time and money by not running proper clinical trials.

How exactly are they getting away with that? In October, President Obama declared swine flu a national emergency. In 2005, Congress passed the Public Readiness & Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP Act). Congress took away liability for experimental drugs and vaccines that are released for public use under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) whenever a national public health emergency is declared.

Because we are supposedly experiencing a national emergency, the drug manufacturers are not only authorized, but encouraged to dispense bad medicine. Furthermore, the PREP Act provides legal immunity for the drug makers. Therefore, if you do indeed elect to be a human guinea pig for a vaccine known to cause death and paralysis, you will have no legal recourse in the event of incurring any harm.

What can we do to ascertain these findings? The usual route – follow the dollar. According to Guardian News, Britain's biggest pharmaceutical company Glaxso-Smith Kline, is preparing to sell £3bn worth of swine flu drugs this year. Dr. Oz is a well know celebrity doctor who is vehemently pushing the vaccine. Is this because he cares about your health and well-being? Or could it have something to do with the 150,000 shares of stock he owns in SIGA Technologies? His stock has an estimated worth of close to 2 million, (SIGA designs and develops vaccines).
